Friends, colleagues and readers:
I’m pleased to announce that the Netflix four-part documentary series based on How to Change Your Mind will be released worldwide on July 12. The series was produced in collaboration with Alex Gibney and the team at Jigsaw Productions, the same team that produced the Netflix series based on Cooked. Lucy Walker and Allison Elwood directed the new series.
Yesterday, Netflix released the trailer, which will give you some idea what we're up to.
I hope you get a chance to see the series. I’ll be eager to hear your thoughts about it.
All best,
Michael
I was very wary of this show as I lived out many of my days between the ages of 15-20 on some form and varied doses of psychedelics. However, I am MESMERIZED by this series, mostly due to the story of how these magical substances were snatched from civilization by many of the same forces that brought us Fox News. It's a brilliant equation and sheds new light on how we got here and perhaps how we find our way out.
Incredible. The weaving of the history around psychedelics and the culture at the time, was spot on. I lived that history in every way with the exception of a psychedelic experience. A regret as came to understand more. As a Psychologist, as a spiritual seeker, and having depression of my own, I could not be more interested in this possibility. For me, this is much more than an intellectual interest, it is visceral. This series so long in the making, has arrived at the right time for me. I see it as a leap rather than a step along old paradigms. It made it onto Netflix, to me that means that, perhaps, the wider culture is opening.
