Dear Friends and Readers,
Today the New York Times published my cover essay in the Sunday Review section titled "How Should We Do Drugs Now?" In the piece I try to look past the end of the drug war, which is in view, to envision what the peace might look like. It takes up the challenge posed in my new book, This is Your Mind on Plants, to open up a new, more constructive conversation on the role of psychoactive plants in our lives and in our society. For people who don't have access to the Times, I've posted the piece on my website -- without the terrific art, sad to say.
Also this weekend, the Financial Times published my essay on gardening with psychoactive plants, “The Intoxicating Garden.”
Lastly, I'm pleased to report that the first major review of This is Your Mind on Plants, in the New York Times Book Review is (whew...) a really good one.
Oh yes, one more link: the Times Book Review interviewed me about my reading habits and published the Q and A today as well.
Thanks for your interest in the work. As ever, I look forward to hearing what you think.
All best,
Michael
ps: I've got a few public appearances coming up this week. Hope you can join me for the conversations.
Bravo on the NYT article. You hit the nail on the head eloquently and succinctly.
