Dear friends, readers, and listeners,
When I first began writing about psychedelics a decade ago, I often said to myself or anyone who would listen that when Oprah invited me on to talk about psychedelics, it would be a moment, a landmark in the mainstreaming of psychedelic medicine. In January, that happened, and I traveled to her place in Santa Barbara to have a conversation about the power of psychedelics to heal. We're joined by Bob Parsons, a Viet Nam Vet who suffered with PTSD for fifty years until he sought psychedelic therapy. As Bob puts it, "That's when I finally came home from the war."
I wanted to share with you the latest episode of The Oprah Podcast. And I have a new clip of our conversation to share, below.
A big thank you to Oprah for her open-mindedness and for deepening the public conversation around psychedelics.
You can watch or listen to the full episode by following the link here. Let me know what you think.
Yours very truly,
Michael
So nice to see you, Michael, and to listen to you. I think spirituality became a marketable commodity for the developed world (so much can be sold under its umbrella of benefits!) but based on what we know about the very earliest human cultures, it wasn't so much about the supernatural but about the natural/Nature. And I love what you said: the opposite of spiritual is egotistical. (And here we are now, in the US, led by supreme egocentrism to the detriment of all but those few leaders.)
I don't like Oprah...she's crooked
